Yeongsanhoesang, String Yeongsanhoesang, Junggwangjigok
At present, three forms of Yeongsanhoesang are available: the String Yeongsanhoesang called "Junggwangjigok"; the Wind Yeongsanhoesang called "Pyojeongmanbangjigok"; and the Pyeongjohoesang called "Yuchosinjigok." Among these, the Wind Yeongsanhoesang and the Pyeongjohoesang are based on the String Yeongsanhoesang. Therefore, the name "Yeongsanhoesang" sometimes refers to only the string Yeongsanhoesang called "Junggwangjigok."
Yeongsanhoesang is a large-scale suite including totally nine pieces, which are Sangnyeongsan, Jungnyeongsan, Seryeongsan, Garakdeori, Sanghyeondodeuri, Hahyeondodeuri, Yeombuldodeuri, Taryeong and Gunak. Yeongsanhoesang well shows the characteristics of "Hanbae" flow of Korean traditional music that is slow at first and gradually becomes fast.
When played by an ensemble, the ensemble is organized in the form of Seakhapju consisting of gayageum, geomungo, danso, daegeum, sepiri, janggu, haegeum and sometimes yanggeum also. However, the organization of the instruments is not absolutely fixed but flexible.
This record contains Yeongsanhoesang, the representative poetic music of the Korean traditional music and the main piece of the currently available Yeongsanhoesang set, played by YOO Hong as his daegeum solo.
You will enjoy YOO Hong's performance featured by the warm and weight low and moderate tones, the elegant melody that moves according to the rhythm that gradually grows faster, and the delicate respiration.
